It’s good in one way, hopefully it will make those who wear real fur to choose faux fur instead. We also go more and more towards vegan leather in our products which I think is good. Hur varma är fuskpälsjackorna? Funkar de om det är nollgradigt eller några minusgrader?

Why everybody thinks that a fake fur is a good choice? I am not a big fan of real furs either, but I see that they are a better one if you think a little bit wider.
It’s undeniable that fake fur is made from non-renewable petroleum-based products, such as nylon, acrylic and polyester, then treated with heat and chemicals to improve its look and feel.
These industrial processes use three times as much non-renewable energy as real fur. And how much water it takes to make a fake fur…
So throwing a fake fur away is same thing that throwing a plastic bag, can take a 1,000 years to decompost. And washing it may be harmful to environment also when every garmet releases tiny plastic particles to water.
So when a real fur is ethically wrong choice, fake furs are not that good choice either. Making a real furs, number of suffering animals is small compared to making a fake fur which effects to whole ekosystems.
I agree to your statement to an extent, although the faux fur is not that sustainable it is a better choice then using real fur. Hopefully, faux fur will through innovation and technology become more sustainable in the future. I believe that designers and retailers promoting faux fur is a great progress against animal cruelty.

would you throw away a (faux) fur coat as fast as you would throw away a plastic bag? How long will it take a real fur coat to decompose do you think? I don’t think that real leather or real fur is made in a way that it can decompose after its owner is done with it.
Furs, once upon a time, a very long time ago, were a necessity for people to survive. Survival of the fittest. A very long, long time ago.
Today, fur is an accessory. There are many other ways to keep ourselves warm and survive cold days. Animals, not even one, should suffer for an accessory. I believe there are enough real vintage items on the market to cover the demand, and thus there’s no need to produce new ones. No need to harm innocent creatures. Reusing and recycling is the best way towards sustainability.
I think it’s great that entrepreneurs like Kenza are taking the step towards vegetarian/vegan/cruelty-free fabrics when it comes to making new items. And if the design and quality are off the charts, then you can buy an item, enjoy it for a very long time and pass it on. Buy less, choose well.
The answer to your first question is simply because fake fur actually IS a better choice. We can compensate our choices that affects environment, but we can never compensate animals suffering. I don’t know what kind of measurements you do to reach the conclusion that “number of suffering animals is small compared to making a fake fur”.
Also, you cannot compare a fake fur with plastic bags since one can wear a fake fur for forever, compared to plastic bags that may be thrown away after one use. With your logic we would be prevented from buying almost any clothes at all since polyester, acrylic and nylon are so common. If you do, that’s great and I admire you not consuming toxic materials – but it’s terrible to use this reasoning as a argument pro fur. If we’re facing a choice between fake fur and real fur, we won’t make the earth a favour by choosing the real one.
I also forgot to mention how bad the environment is affected by fur production. The animals that are breeded to be clothes are consuming great amounts of water and so does the actual production.
One last thing, I LOVE that Swedish entrepreneurs like Kenza are using more vegan fur and leather in their production. Cruelty free can never be a bad thing and I’m proud to be in the first generation that actually cares about these questions. Vegan and enivronmental friendly are not opposites, it’s usually the other way around. So, thank you Kenza and keep up the good work.
Like I said, I am not supporting a fur bussines in any way, and I also think that cruelty against those animals is sick. All I wanted that people emerge their point of views, and see that things are not that black and white, and not believe blindly what somebody else say.
And I agree Cilla, that vegan and environmental friendly are not opposites, but not equals either. Like sometimes it is a better choice to pick domestic meat than for example soy, which has a huge carbon footprint.
I agree that comparing a plastic bag to a fake fur is a bit overkilling, but expecially in fashion industry that happens sadly often that people throw a piece away instead of recycling it.
Once again I do NOT support a fur bussines, but a fake fur bussines is not that innocent either.

Nej det är det inte. Herrejösses läs på.
Pälsen dras av djuret medan djuret fortfarande lever. Så den lämnas levande med utan päls. Detta är fruktansvärt. Finns många videor på youtube där man kan se detta fasanfulla.
Skinn är självklart heller inte bra. Men där är djuret dött före man tar av skinnet på den. Dessutom tar vissa företag bara skinn från djur som dessutom kommer bli mat.
Älskar färgen på nr 6! :-)

Rekommenderar du samma storlek som man har i vanliga fall i faux fur-jackorna t.ex. om jag har S i vanliga fall så köper jag S i jackan eller ska man köpa en större storlek t.ex. M då i detta fall?
Kenzas svar: Jag har rätt långa armar och tycker att S är lite för kort i armen på mig, så jag hade hellre valt M. Bär dock S i mina eftersom jag lånar fotoproverna (som alltid är i S). :-) Kram!

Är man anti päls som du så tycker jag inte att fuskpäls borde marknadsföras överhuvudtaget då det har visats att det är minst lika dåligt för miljön som äkta päls. (Länk där nere för intresserade)
Fuskpäls är är gjort av massa onedbrytbara syntetämnen såsom akryl, nylon och polyester. Hälften av alla växthusgasutsläpp kommer från akryl- och nylontillverkning och polyester görs på oljekemikalier så det är inte direkt bra för miljön. Det kan dessutom ta mellan 500 och 1000 år för syntetiska fibrer att brytas ner.
Den andra stora nackdelen är att det krävs massa energi att tillverka det men i och med att man börjat göra fuskpälsar av bomull kan man som tur är komma runt problemet även om klassiska fuskpälsar fortfarande är vanligast.
Riktig päls är dock biodegraderbar och kan således komposteras enkelt. Kadavren i sig är även de ett miljöproblem och något som farmerna måste handskas med hela tiden genom att antingen gräva ner, bränna upp eller försöka återvinna. Slutligen så krävs kemikalier för att färga och klä pälsen, även om det är marginellt jämfört med fuskpäls.
