A morning in La Rochelle and a quick stop in Bordeaux!

Vi har lämnat San Sebastian och är påväg ner till kusten vid Alicante (7 timmars bilresa, vi åkte imorse så vi är snart framme!), men här i bloggen befinner vi oss fortfarande på Frankrikes västkust. :-) Efter Paris och stoppet vid det magiska slottet så behövde vi stanna någonstans och sova påväg ner till Biarritz. Jag har varit i La Rochelle en gång tidigare när jag spelade in Fångarna på Fortet, och staden var precis så mysig som jag mindes den. Vi kom fram på kvällen och checkade in på ett mysigt litet boutique-hotell som ägdes av ett gammalt franskt par, sedan promenerade vi ner till centrum och åt en svingod middag på La Boussole. Morgonen därpå gick vi ner till hamnen och åt frukost där, promenerade runt och köpte färsk frukt på marknaden och croissanter att ha att mumsa på i bilen. Så många croissanter vi redan hunnit äta på denna resa haha….

Efter ett stopp i Bordeaux så fortsatte vi ner mot Biarritz och San Sebastian där vi tillbringade 3 dagar. Mer om det sen!

// We’ve left San Sebastian and are on our way down to the coast in Alicante (7h in the car, we left this morning so we are almost there!), but here in my blog we are still on the west coast of France. :-) After Paris and the stop at the castle, we needed somewhere to stay for the night on our way down to Biarritz. I’ve been to La Rochelle once before when I recorded the Fort Boyard show, and the city was just as cozy as I remembered it. We arrived in the evening and checked into a cozy little boutique hotel that was owned by an old French couple, then we walked down to the centre and had a delicious dinner at La Boussole. The morning after we walked down to the port and had breakfast there, walked around and bought fresh fruit from the market and croissants to eat in the car. We’ve had so many croissants on this trip already haha…

After a stop in Bordeaux, we continued down to Biarritz and San Sebastian and spent 3 days there. More about that later!

Av en slump hamnade vi här påväg från Paris till La Rochelle. Jag tror vi såg Loire Valley på någon skylt och mindes att vi läst om att det finns en massa gamla slott där, och plötsligt så hamnade vi vid det största slottet av dem alla. Château de Chambord (eller “Chateau Bombarda” som Aleks kallade det, han är heeelt värdelös på namn och det är alltid lika roligt) byggdes under första halvan av 1500-talet för Frankrikes dåvarande kung. Han behövde nämligen en jaktstuga, haha. Mysigt osv. Mot betalning kunde man gå in i en del av slottet och kika men för oss räckte det att se det från utsidan. Det var så sjukt vackert! Och STORT!

Efter besöket där rullade vi vidare till La Rochelle där vi stannade en natt, följt av lunch i Bordeaux och sedan Biarritz ett dygn. Och nu är vi i Spanien! Är lite efter i uppdateringen här hehe, har lovat mig själv att bara ta upp datorn när vi sitter i bilen och Aleks kör. Tycker iallafall det är jättekul att visa er alla dessa platser, hoppas ni också tycker det! :-)

// By coincidence we ended up here on our way from Paris to La Rochelle. I think we saw Loire Valley on a sign and remembered that we read somewhere that they have lots of old castles there, and suddenly we were at the biggest castle of them all. Château de Chambord (or “Chateau Bombarda” as Aleks calls it, he is completely useless when it comes to names and it’s always so funny) was built during the first half of the 16th century for the king of France. He needed a hunting cabin, haha. Cozy and casual. You could pay an entrance fee and step inside a part of the castle but it was enough for us to see it from the outside. It was crazy beautiful! And HUGE!

After the visit we drove towards La Rochelle and stayed there one night, followed by a lunch in Bordeaux and then Biarritz for 24h. And now we’re in Spain! I’m a bit behind on the update her hehe, I promised myself to only work on my laptop while we’re in the car and Aleks is driving. I think it’s so much fun to show you all these places, I hope you think that too! :-)

A stroll in Luxembourg! 

Vårt första “riktiga” stopp på vår roadtrip fick bli Luxemburg! Varken jag eller Aleks hade varit där innan och det är ju alltid kul att bocka av ett till land på listan. :-)) Och wow vad fint det var! Så himla mysigt. Vi promenerade runt och tittade på alla söta hus och sedan satte vi oss ner och käkade burgare till lunch.

Vi kom därifrån lite senare än tänkt så vi bestämde oss för att göra ett stopp i Paris innan vi fortsatte vår väg ner till sydvästra Frankrike. Mer om det sen! Nu sitter vi i bilen igen och lyssnar på P3 Dokumentär. Snart dags för kaffepaus. Att bila är verkligen min nya grej haha, jag älskar det!!

// Our first “real” stop on our roadtrip was Luxemburg! Neither one of us have been there before and it’s always fun to check another country off the list. :-)) And wow it was really pretty! So cozy. We walked around and looked at all the pretty houses, and then we sat down and had burgers for lunch.

We left a bit later than planned so we decided to make a stop in Paris before we continued our way down to south west of France. More about that later! Now we’re in the car again listening to documentaries. It’s almost time for a coffee break. Roadtrippin’ is definitely my new thing haha, I love it!!
